Only six players in the Cape Cod Baseball League batted over .300 this summer, with
Cotuit Kettleer slugger Pete Stonard (Alabama) paving the way all season long and
ending up as the 2002 Thurman Munson Batting Champion at .348. The five hitters over
.300 included Stonard, Adam Bourassa (Y-D/Wake Forest), Jayce Tingler
(Brewster / Missouri), Wes Whisler (Y-D/UCLA) and Dave Murphy
(Wareham / Baylor). Last season there were five CCBL batters who ended over .300, the top three all being Gatemen. In 2000, there were eight batters
who finished over .300.
