The 2002 Cape League season was an outstanding one for pitchers. All totalled, only six Cape League batters hit over .300, yet while there were more home runs this season than in most -- 178 in contrast to last year when only 135 were hit -- there were more strikeouts. This year, CCBL hurlers racked up 3634 Ks in contrast to 3604 in 2001.
