HYANNIS ---- Harbor Hawk John Ruettiger (Arizona State) was a fan favorite and a returning Cape Leaguer, and this year he was recognized as one of the league’s best after winning the Thurman Munson batting title.
John Ruettiger awarded Cape League batting title
Ruettiger hit .369 and was named to the Cape League All-Star team for the second straight summer. Last season, he averaged .255 and served as a backup center-fielder in the All-Star game.
At Arizona State, he earned Honorable Mention on the All-Pac-10 team as a sophomore, hitting .351 with four homers and 35 RBI. In his freshman year he batted .360 with one homer and 13 RBI.
He was a 35th round pick for the Texas Rangers 2008 MLB draft.
