Bourne Braves PA Announcer
Kevin McGonagle Named News Director
For Cape Cod Broadcasting’s Stations

HYANNIS, Mass. -- Kevin McGonagle has been named news director and director of public affairs, according to an announcement by Gregory D. Bone, general partner of Cape Cod Broadcasting & CapeCod.Com.

For five years, McGonagle, a resident of Bourne, has served as senior news reporter/anchor for FM stations WQRC, WOCN, WKPE and WFCC. He has also served as public address announcer for the Bourne Braves for several years and was recently appointed to the Cape Cod Baseball League Broadcasting Committee. In addition, he has been the PA announcer at Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s home football games.

"I'm excited to continue my work at Cape Cod Broadcasting, delivering local news highlights and public affairs features," said Mcgonagle. “I'll never forget CCBL's President Judy Walden Scarafile who many years ago visited Coady Field, former home of the Bourne Braves. After I announced a college player and the school he was from over the PA system, Judy said to me, ‘You ought to be on the air.’ I said, ‘Actually I am, but I'm in between stations.’ It's nice to be back to work and I can't wait to announce the ’09 roster of Bourne players this summer at Doran Park on the Upper Cape Tech campus in Bourne.”

One of the on-air duties for McGonagle is hosting WQRC’s Sunday Journal, which features a wide rage of topics every weekend and has included the Cape League on several occasions over the years.

"A Cape Cod native with a strong sense of community, Kevin has a full understanding of how important local news and information is to Cape Codders," said Bone. "He has been the rudder in Cape Cod Broadcasting's Sunday Journal, our local public affairs program, our local feature programming and our election coverage, so giving him the rudder for our seven-person news department is the right move to continue our local news mission."

Cape Cod Broadcasting includes WQRC 99.9 FM, WOCN 104.7 FM, WKPE 103.9 FM, WFCC 107.5 FM, CapeCod.Com and The World Classical Network.

"Working with the people at Cape Cod Broadcasting and serving our local community has been rewarding," said McGonagle, "and the opportunity to be news director and director of public affairs presents the right opportunity for me to continue my passion for news and my community."
