East: Y-D completes sweep of Brewster Article By: Tori Cotnoir Red Sox 7, Whitecaps 3: After taking Game 1 on Monday, Y-D completed the sweep over Brewster at Red Wilson Field to advance to the East Division championship series. Y-D will play the winner of the other best-of-three East Division series between Chatham and Orleans. The Red Sox struck first in the second inning on an RBI double by Ryan Noda (Cincinnati) to the left-center field gap. He also homered in the eighth.
Y-D's Ricky Thomas (Fresno State) turned in six scoreless innings, striking out seven and scattering five hits to pick up the victory. Dalton Lehnen (Cincinnati) pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings for the save.
Brewster’s Jordan Sheffield (Vanderbilt) took the loss for the Whitecaps.
