Week 4 Standouts July 1-July 7

With summer in full gear and the 4th of July weekend bringing out more fans than ever, here are this week’s standout players and performances.



Brewster Whitecaps


Brett Auerbach C/IF: The senior from the University of Alabama had a good week, going eight for twenty-two, with five runs, one home run, two runs batted in, two walks, and two stolen bases. Auerbach’s standout performance of the week was on July 3rd against the Harwich Mariners going two for four, with two runs, one home run, and one run batted in.
Tyler Hardman 3B/1B: The corner infielder from the University of Oklahoma had a solid week. Hardman went nine for twenty, with five runs, three home runs, six runs batted in, and two walks. Hardman’s standout performance was on the 4th of July against the Harwich Mariners going two for three, with two runs, two home runs, four runs batted in, and one walk.
Chandler Jozwiak SP: The junior southpaw from Texas A&M received his first win of the season on July 7th against the Chatham Anglers. Jozwiak tossed five shutout innings giving up six hits, three walks, and striking out five.
William McKay RHP: The junior from the University of Central Florida had a solid week out of the bullpen. In the three games McKay pitched in, he threw four and two thirds shutout innings giving up only two hits, and three strikeouts.

Chatham Anglers


Austin Vernon RHP: The six-foot-seven junior from North Carolina Central University had two good appearances out of the bullpen this week. Vernon recorded a win in each of his two outings, going six and one thirds innings, giving up only one earned run, eight hits, one walk, and striking out eight.
Tyler Doanes 2B: The junior from West Virginia went six for fifteen, with six runs, one triple, three runs batted in, two walks, and three stolen bases.
Kaden Polcovich SS/2B: The switch-hitting middle infielder from Northwest Florida State College had another solid week. Polcovich went six-for-nineteen, with seven runs, one double, two home runs, five runs batted in, seven walks, and one stolen base.
Cole Ayers RHP: The sophomore Kentucky Wildcat recorded his first win of the season on July 4th against the Orleans Firebirds. Ayers tossed five innings giving up only one earned run, four hits, three walks, and striking out six.

Harwich Mariners


Daniel Cabrera OF: The junior outfielder from LSU went six for eighteen in the five games he played in, collecting five runs, one triple, four runs batted in, and three walks.
Antonio Menendez RHP: The junior from Wake Forest had his best outing of the season on July 4th against the Brewster Whitecaps. Menendez tossed six innings giving up only one earned run, two hits, one walk, and striking out eight.
Will Heflin LHP: The lefty from the University of Tennessee had another solid week out of the bullpen. Heflin pitched seven innings allowing only one earned run, with six strikeouts.
Niko Kavadas IF: The infielder from Notre Dame had a solid week at the plate. Kavadas went eight for twenty-two collecting four runs, two doubles, one triple, two home runs, seven runs batted in and one walk. Kavadas’ standout performance was on July 6th against the Wareham Gatemen second game of their double header. Kavadas went three for three that game collecting one double, one triple, one home run, five runs batted in, and one walk.
Jacob Palisch SP: The junior southpaw from Stanford University earned this week’s “Pitcher of the Week” award. On July 6th against the Wareham Gatemen, during the first game of their doubleheader, Palisch pitched the first complete game shutout of the Cape Cod League season, while striking out ten.

Orleans Firebirds


Noah Skirrow RHP: The junior starter from Liberty University received his first win of the season on July 1st against the Falmouth Commodores. Skirrow tossed five shutout innings allowing only two hits, three walks, and striking out nine. Skirrow also pitched on July 7th against the Y-D Red Sox throwing four and two thirds innings giving up one earned run, with three hits, three walks, and seven strikeouts.
Connor Pellerin RHP: The junior from Tulane University had a good week out of the bullpen. Pellerin tossed three and two thirds innings giving up three runs, two walks, and striking out seven.
Jared Shuster: The junior from Wake Forest University had another solid outing on July 6th against the Y-D Red Sox. Shuster tossed five shutout innings giving up only one hit and striking out five.

Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox


Jack Leftwich SP: The sophomore Florida Gator received his second win of the season on July 3rd against the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. Leftwich tossed five shutout innings giving up only two hits, one walk, and striking out five.
Ledgend Smith LHP: The sophomore southpaw from the University of Oklahoma had a great start despite receiving a no-decision. On July 6th against the Orleans Firebirds, Smith tossed five shutout innings giving up only two hits, with six strikeouts helping Y-D to the victory.
Ian Seymour SP: The junior southpaw from Virginia Tech had his best outing of the season on July 7th against the Orleans Firebirds. Seymour threw five shutout innings giving up three hits, two walks, and striking out nine.
Wyatt Young SS/2B: The freshmen middle infielder from Pepperdine had a great week. Young went nine for twenty-three collecting six runs, one double, six runs batted in, four walks, and one stolen base. Young is now batting 0.361 this season.

Bourne Braves


Zavier Warren IF/C: The junior from Central Michigan had a good week. Warren went nine for twenty-eight, with two runs, two doubles, one home run, eight runs batted in, and two walks. Warren’s standout performance was on July 5th against the Harwich Mariners going three for four, with one run, one home run, and one run batted in.
Cody Marissette 2B/SS: The sophomore middle infielder from Boston College had a solid week. Marissette went eight for eighteen, with two runs, one double, one triple, eight runs batted in, and two walks.
Mac Lardner SP: The junior southpaw from Gonzaga University received his first win of the season on July 1st against the Wareham Gatemen. Lardner threw six innings giving up only one earned run, with six hits, and three strikeouts.
Nick Dombkowski SP: The junior starter from the University of Hartford received his first win of the season on July 5th against the Harwich Mariners. Dombkowski tossed five shutout innings giving up only three hits, two walks, and striking out five.

Cotuit Kettleers


Joseph Nahas SP: The senior starter from Georgia Southern University recorded his first win of the season on July 2nd against the Bourne Braves. Nahas threw six innings, giving up only one earned run, with two hits, two walks, and five strikeouts.
Parker Chavers CF/2B: The junior from Coastal Carolina University had a solid week. Chavers went eight for twenty-five, with four runs, three doubles, two home runs, seven runs batted in, three walks, and one stolen base.
Joey Loperfido IF/OF: The sophomore Duke Blue Devil had a good week at the plate. Loperfido went seven for sixteen, with three runs, one double, one home run, two runs batted in, three walks, and two stolen bases.
Zachary McCambley SP: The junior starter from Coastal Carolina University had two solid starts this week. McCambley threw nine innings this week giving up only two earned runs, with six hits, three walks, and ten strikeouts.

Falmouth Commodores


Carmen Mlodzinski SP: The junior from the University of South Carolina had a stellar outing on July 1st against the Orleans Firebirds. Mdlodzinski tossed five no-hit innings giving up only one walk and striking out seven. Mdlodzinski also pitched on July 7th against the Harwich Mariners throwing five innings giving up two earned runs, one walk, and ten strikeouts
Zach Deloach CF/RF: The junior from Texas A&M had a great week. Deloach went 14 for 30, with six runs, two doubles, one home run, four runs batted in, three walks and two stolen bases. Deloach’s standout performance was on July 5th against the Chatham Anglers going three for three, with a walk off base hit, one run, one home run, two runs batted in, and one walk.
Austin Masel OF/IF: The senior from Holy Cross had a good week. Masel went seven for thirteen in the four games he played in, with three runs, one run batted in, one walk, and two stolen bases.
Franco Aleman SP: The sophomore starter from Florida International University has still not given up an earned run in three starts of the season. Aleman pitched on July 6th against the Brewster Whitecaps throwing five innings allowing three runs, seven hits, and striking out six.

Hyannis Harbor Hawks


Hunter Goodman C/OF: The sophomore from the University of Memphis had a solid week. Goodman went nine for twenty-four, with six runs, one double, two home runs, and thirteen runs batted in.
Jordan Westburg SS/2B: The middle infielder from Mississippi State University had a monster first week playing on Cape, earning this week’s “Player of the Week.” Westburg recorded at least two hits in all four games he played in going ten for sixteen, with six runs, two doubles, three home runs, seven runs batted in, and three walks. Wartburg’s standout performance was his Cape League debut on July 5th going two for four, with two runs, two home runs, four runs batted in, and one walk.
 Jared Desantolo 3B/IF: The junior infielder from Florida Atlantic University had a solid week. Desantolo went eleven for twenty-five, with seven runs, one home run, two runs batted in, seven walks, and one stolen base.


Wareham Gatemen


Darren Baker 2B: The junior from the University of California Berkeley had a solid week. Baker went ten for twenty-three, with four runs, two runs batted in, three walks, and three stolen bases.
Toranosuke Otsuka CF/2B: The senior from the University of San Diego had a solid week. Otsuka went eight for seventeen, with seven runs, two runs batted in, and two walks.
Levi Prater LHP: The junior southpaw from the University of Oklahoma had two good outings out of the bullpen. Prater tossed five and two thirds innings in his two outings giving up only two earned runs, four hits, five walks, and striking out five.
Ian Bedell SP: The Junior from the University of Missouri had another solid outing, recording his second win of the season on July 5th against the Orleans Firebirds. Bedell tossed five innings giving up two earned runs, five hits, and striking out seven.
Braiden Ward: The junior from the University of Washington had a breakout performance on July 5th against the Orleans Firebirds. Ward went six for six that night, with three runs, one double, one home run, and two runs batted in.
