CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES GAME ONE

COTUIT 7, HARWICH 6 (15 innings)
The Kettleers looked to be on their way to another huge offensive night when Oraj Anu struck for a three-run homer on just the third at-bat of the game. However, Harwich took control from there, battling back to tie the game at four in the bottom of the seventh and taking a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth before Cotuit tied the game in the top of the ninth.

From there, the game became a marathon, as the two teams traded zeroes until the fifteenth inning, when singles by Adam Oviedo and Cody Pasic put runners on the corners and two outs. MVP Nick Gonzales then came up and knocked a single up the middle, giving Cotuit a 7-6 lead which was saved by Kyle Nicolas. The Kettleers hero on the mound was winning Richard Braerton, who threw six shutout innings, allowing just one hit and four walks while fanning five.

The championship series now shifts to Cotuit, where the Mariners will need to win to keep their season alive in game two with first pitch scheduled for 4 pm.
