Former Cape Leaguer Inducted Into Red Sox Hall Of Fame

Former Cape Cod Baseball Leaguer John Valentin will be honored with induction into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame today in ceremonies at Fenway Park.

     Valentin, a member of the Hyannis Mets in 1988, played 10 seasons with the Red Sox, joining the club in 1992. A shortstop and third baseman, he received a Silver Slugger Award in 1995, batting .298 with 27 homers and 102 RBIs.  He also became one of 15 MLB players to complete an unassisted triple play during the 1994 season.

     Also being inducted are Tommy Harper, Jimmy Piersall and Don Zimmer.
