HYANNIS, Mass - Commissioner Paul Galop has announced the following Cape Cod Baseball League appointments for the 2013 season. Long-time CCBL Deputy Commissioner Sol Yas has been promoted to the new position of Senior Deputy Commissioner. Those responsibilities include being Director of Officiating and handling all performance and behavior matters on the field, in addition to directing CCBL Deputy Commissioners.

“Having Sol assume the responsibility of this new position is a real advantage for the CCBL," said Galop. "Besides his lengthy and successful tenure with the league in similar roles and past GM experience with the Brewster Whitecaps, Sol is also past winner of the prestigious CCBL Dick Sullivan Executive of the Year award. I could not be more pleased that Sol has accepted this responsibility. His dedication and performance to the Cape Cod Baseball League speaks for itself and we are delighted and extremely fortunate to have him”.

Dick Sullivan, current member of the CCBL Hall of Fame and only person in CCBL history to serve as both President and Commissioner, continues his dedication and commitment to the CCBL as Deputy Commissioner Emeritus. “Dick Sullivan is the very heartbeat of CCBL heritage," said Galop. "He's always available when we need him and always offers professionalism, unparalleled integrity, support, guidance and wisdom that is second to none”, Galop added. “To continue to be able to consult and brainstorm with Dick is an invaluable asset that we could not be more grateful for”.

Three new Deputy Commissioners have been appointed by the CCBL Board of Directors for the 2013 season. Former umpires Peter Hall of Chatham, James McNally of Sandwich and former Hyannis president and general manager (VP?) Bill Bussiere of Hyannis have all graciously accepted these posts and are enthusiastic about this opportunity.

Commissioner Galop added, “the CCBL is absolutely delighted to have Peter, Jim and Bill accept these roles. Their experience and professionalism are absolutely exemplary”.

Hall, a former CCBL Umpire of the Year, has assisted CCBL management in the past and will cover the Eastern Division. McNally, also a former CCBL Umpire of the Year, who has also assisted League management, will cover the Western Division.

Bill Bussiere, current CCBL Vice President and first-ever winner of the CCBL John Wylde General Manager of the Year Award when he was steering Hyannis to the 2011 CCBL regular season title, will focus in on a variety of League assignments and concentrating his attention to the mid-Cape area. He's been responsible for coordinating the annual CCBL schedule and released the 2013 game schedule earlier this fall in what was the earliest announcement in recent years.

“The Cape Cod Baseball League Executive Committee has exhibited tremendous vision and a sincere commitment to excellence with these critical appointments. We believe that having this level of experience and professionalism within our League management is absolutely tremendous, and we are delighted beyond words”, said an elated Galop. “Now we can’t wait for the season to start in about 180 days, but who’s counting!”
