Cape Cod, Mass – The Turkey Brigade, which is part of a Thanksgiving drive sponsored by Community Action Committee in Hyannis, has been operating for several years and its goal is to help families who cannot afford to a put a special dinner on their table during the Thanksgiving holidays.

This is the fourth year of the turkey drive which last month provided local families with a total of 269 turkey baskets, while others received grocery gift cards.

It is the third season the Cape Cod Baseball League has been involved in this important community project.

Local organizations partnering with the Cape Cod Baseball League were St Mary’s Episcopal Church, , Stop & Shop Supermarket, Advanced Embroidery, Shaws Supermarket, Bob Burns of NY Life, and Allen Davis of Cape Cod Creamery and an anonymous donor. Working together this “team” provided families with 171 turkey’s, 47 complete turkey baskets and $575 in gift cards.

Marlene Weir, Development Director of CAC stated, “We at Community Action Committee and Missie’s Closet hope you all felt the comfort of knowing so many others were having family time over food provided with love from St Mary's members, the Cape League, Bob Burns and all the other friends involved,” Overall it was a huge success.

. "All in all it was a tremendous effort on the part of many of our Cape League volunteers and sponsors and St Mary's members. The partnership formed with these companies and organizations worked very well. I am very proud the League could step up to really make a difference. All the volunteers opened their hearts and their wallets to help," said CCBL President Judy Walden Scarafile.
