UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Kansas City Royals Manager Trey Hillman, Boston Red Sox Pitching Coach John Farrell and Trinity College National Champion Collegiate Coach Bill Decker are three of the nearly 30 featured presenters at the 2009 Mohegan Sun World Baseball & Softball Coaches’ Convention Jan. 8-10, 2009.

This three-day, international event provides baseball and softball coaches access to some of their sports’ top minds – managers, coaches, players and motivators – in settings from small breakout rooms to general lecture sessions.

Baseball will also feature Toronto Blue Jays Bench Coach Brian Butterfield, University of Virginia Pitching Coach Karl Kuhn, Franklin Pierce Head Coach Jayson King, renowned hitting instructor and Florida International University Head Coach Turtle Thomas, Boston Red Sox Northeast Regional Scouting Director Ray Fagnant, Pace University Head Coach Henry Manning and LeMoyne Head Coach Steve Owens.

The Cape Cod Baseball League is among the many organizations which will be participating in the event. "This convention, located right here in New England, is very popular and highly successful,” said Cape League President Judy Walden Scarafile. “The Cape League is very pleased that we can participate and have the chance to network with many New England coaches and fans."

Former speakers at the convention include Hall of Famers Gary Carter and Cal Ripken Jr., New York Yankees Manager Joe Girardi, Yankees legend Don Mattingly and Boston Red Sox great Dwight Evans.

Baseball pre-registration is $135 per coach ($155 at the door), which includes a free gift for each registrant. Pre-registration for students or players (ages 14-18) is $75. Special rates are available for a limited time to all clinic attendees for accommodations at Mohegan Sun and specific area hotels.

The 2009 convention is sponsored by Mohegan Sun, Hadlfield's/Russell Athletic, Rawlings, Yankee Gas, Johnny Rockets, Red Bull, America's Game and Baseball America.
