Cape Cod Baseball League first-timer Sheldon Neuse (Oklahoma) has come up big for the Harwich Mariners in the early going.

Neuse, who has a home run, four RBIs and sports a .212 batting average, helped lead the Mariners snap a two-game skid and to a victory over the Wareham Gatemen. In that game, Neuse drove in three runs with a single, two doubles and a standup triple.

In Harwich's doubleheader with the Bourne Braves, Neuse struck out two and combined with Zach Schellenger (Seton Hall) for 1 1/3 innings of relief in the nightcap win.

Last Tuesday, Neuse delivered a base hit against Chatham that drove in Cavan Biggio (Notre Dame) to break a 3-3 tie in a win over the Anglers to extend the Mariners' win streak over Chatham to 11 games dating back to last season.

Neuse said he was nervous before his Cape League debut because he didn't know what to expect, but he quickly settled into a groove. The Mariners are 7-3-1 and in third place In the East Division heading into Tuesday's action.
