After starting the week with a postponed Father’s Day doubleheader and a home game scrapped because of lightning, the Chatham Anglers were ready to get things going.

The doubleheader was moved to Monday, and Chatham took both games over the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. Right-hander Parker Dunshee (Wake Forest) was stellar in his second start of the summer, allowing just two runs on four hits in six-plus innings. He also had three strikeouts and did not issue a walk.

Ty Damron (Texas Tech) gave the Anglers the pitching they needed in the nightcap. After allowing just one runner to score in the first inning, he was unsolvable after that, racking up four strikeouts and walking one in four scoreless innings of two-hit ball.

Chatham’s next game against the Orleans Firebirds was a big one, with the coveted Presidents Trophy on the line. Dunshee turned in another strong outing and scored the winning run as a pinch-hitter in the Anglers’ 10-4 victory.

As field manager John Schiffner put it, Dunshee isn't just a pitcher, he's a big-time athlete.

At 9-6 heading into Saturday’s action, Chatham is in second place in the East Division behind Orleans. The Anglers boast some other pretty impressive stats as well. They have the best pitcher in the league in Timothy Zeuch (Pittsburgh), the best team batting average and the second best pitching average.
