COTUIT, MA – On Father’s Day, June 19, right before the Cotuit Kettleers and Hyannis Harbor Hawks put a smile on fans faces, dessert-loving die-hards will face off in a blueberry pie-eating contest sponsored by the world-famous Centerville Pie Company.

The contest, which will start promptly at 4:35 pm, will pit father-son/daughter teams against each other behind home-plate as the contestants race to see who can clean their pie plate first. All contestants will receive a Cotuit Kettleers yearbook. But, the winner will receive coveted Kettleers items – an autographed baseball and Kettleers baseball cards. Also, courtesy of the Centerville Pie Co., the winning team will take home two pies of their choice.

For fans who are not participating in the pie-eating contest, during the 7th inning stretch, the Centerville Pie Co. will treat fans to free bite-sized pie samples.

“The best summer college baseball, the crack of wood bats, and a taste of delicious pie? That will make for a memorable Father’s Day treat. We strive to provide great family fun and it’s all free,” said Cotuit Kettleers President Paul Logan.

Immediately following the pre-game pie-eating contest, the Kettleers will take on their West Division foe, the Hyannis Harbor Hawks starting at 5 p.m. in the Kettleers fourth home-game of the early season. After finishing 17-27 last season, the Kettleers are looking to shake up the League this year under the guidance of returning coach Mike Roberts, father of former Baltimore Orioles second-baseman Brian Roberts.

Meanwhile, the Harbor Hawks are looking to recapture the West Division crown and return to the League Championship Series a year after losing to the defending champs, the Y-D Red Sox, in the 2015 League finale.

“Baseball and pie go together like Cape Cod clams and beaches,” said Kristin Broadley, co-owner of the Centerville Pie Co. “We are delighted to sponsor this pie-eating contest and to hand out hundreds of free samples for Cape League fans at the game.”

There are limited spots available for the pie-eating contest. Those interested in entering the contest should email: [email protected].
