7/3 Cape Cod Baseball League Wrap Up

Wareham (13-8): 8 at Cotuit (9-9-1): 1

The Gatemen were in complete control throughout this one, allowing just a single run in the eighth inning. Wareham put together two two-run innings in the third and seventh, and a three-run inning in the ninth to put an exclamation point on their victory. They used two doubles, a home run, and RBI from four different Gatemen to score their eight runs.

It was a high scoring affair on Tuesday night between the Whitecaps and Red Sox. Y-D struck early scoring four in the bottom of the first inning. They tacked on three more in the third and fourth innings. However, Brewster hung in with Y-D scoring four in the fourth to make it a 10-4 game. The Sox scored two in the fifth by way of two solo shots back to back by Nick Quintana and Zach Zubia. These were the winning runs, after Brewster scored five runs in the final twelve outs in the game.

Bourne (10-9-1): 4 at Hyannis (12-6-1): 6

A quick three-run first inning shot Bourne ahead in Hyannis on Tuesday night. They scored another in the fifth, but it was the Hawk’s four run sixth inning to tie it up which included a two-run single from Davis Wendzel, an RBI single from Kyle Wilkie, and a fielder’s choice off the bat of Todd Lott that scored the fourth and final run. Hyannis scored two more in the eighth on a Seth Gray double which brought home Matthew Barefoot and Kyle Wilkie. Hyannis’ bullpen was able to stagger the Brave’s offense to win at home.

Chatham (9-7-2): 13 at Harwich (9-10-1): 6

Harwich was unable to hold off Chatham’s offense in the latter stages of the game on Tuesday night. After going ahead 5-2 going into the fifth inning, the Anglers slapped together two in the inning. They weren’t done there, when they scored six in the sixth inning to take a 10-6 lead. Two more in the seventh and one in the eighth put the game out of reach. Chatham collected fourteen hits and took advantage of three Harwich errors.

Falmouth shutdown Orleans on Tuesday night, allowing just one run on four hits. The Commodores put together three two-run innings on eight hits to take the 6-1 victory. Falmouth used a home run and a double to help their winning effort on the offensive side. Spencer Strider gave a great six inning start, giving up an unearned run on three hits. Nick Mikolajchak came in to relieve Strider, and slammed the door shut allowing no runs and surrendering just one hit.
