Dodgers 3 - Rays 1 (Los Angeles Wins Series 4-2)

For the first time in 32 years, the Dodgers are World Series champions. The Dodgers World Series roster featured nine Cape League alumni:

AJ Pollock (Falmouth ‘08)

Chris Taylor (YD ‘11)

Edwin Rios (Orleans ‘14),

Joe Kelly (YD ‘08)

Justin Turner (YD ‘05)

Max Muncy (Wareham ‘10)

Walker Buehler (YD ‘14)

Dylan Floro (Hyannis '11)

Will Smith (Brewster ‘15).

After constantly falling just short, losing to the eventual champions each of the past four seasons, Dave Roberts and the Dodgers were finally able to finish the job. The defining moment of the game came with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning, with the Dodgers trailing 1-0. Blake Snell, who was at 70 pitches and had only allowed two hits to that point, was pulled by Rays manager Kevin Cash. Just two batters later, the Dodgers had taken a lead they would never relinquish. The Dodgers bullpen threw a combined 7 1-3 scoreless innings of relief to close out the game, after starter Tony Gonsolin was pulled in just the second inning.
