Jake Smith (University of Miami): Cotuit Kettleers, Pitcher
Smith notched a victory in a commanding defeat of Hyannis on June 28. The Miami Hurricane hurled five clean innings for Cotuit and surrendered only two hits and one walk in his 10-strikeout performance against the Harbor Hawks. In his first start, Smith had a minuscule .188 opponent batting average among the 18 batters he faced during the Kettleers eight-run victory. Just last night, the lanky righty made his second start of the season which resulted in his second win on the year. Smith did not allow a single run with a pair of strikeouts in another solid five innings of work. His performance was good enough to help hand Bourne their first loss of the season as his Kettleers improved to .500.

The two-way player from JMU enjoyed a 7-for-15 (.467) week of baseball capitalized by a five-hit, two home run game during a 19-6 Orleans blowout of Brewster on Friday night. In addition, DeLauter pitched a scoreless first inning in his “opener” role against Wareham on June 29. Thanks to four home runs in as many games, DeLauter currently leads the Cape in the category with five. So far this season, the Firebird has collected 11 RBI and owns a .282 AVG.
