Hyannis Mets to Host Home Run Hitting Contest
 on August 4th
 

Proceeds benefit the Mets and Special Olympics


HYANNIS, MA. -- The Hyannis Mets of the Cape Cod Baseball League will host an inaugural home run hitting contest on Saturday, August 4th at McKeon Field in Hyannis. The fundraiser, which benefits both the Mets' organization and Cape Cod and Islands Special Olympics, is slated from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. for adult participants and 1 - 2 p.m. for children.

    Adult contestants will pay $20.00 per 10 outs and $10.00 for five outs. The children's fee is $1.00 per contact with the ball in fair territory. All participants may pre-register at the Hyannis home games or contact the Mets interns: Jay at [email protected] or Kara at [email protected] for more information. Registrations are also accepted on the day of the contest.

    The grand prize for the adults is a $150.00 cash gift with other awards announced on August 4.

    The Mets, in its 25th year as a member of the CCBL, will use the proceeds to pay for its newly rebuilt and expanded press box facility at McKeon Field, located on High School Road behind the Horace Mann fifth grade school. The press box building also houses a merchandise and concession stand in addition to storage and facility areas.
