CCBL July 8th Round Up

7/8 was the fourth Sunday of the season, and the teams, more specifically the players, have been outstanding to this point. Check out the Week Four CCBL Wrap Up for more information on teams and breakout players for more information.

Chatham (10-10-2): 1 at Yarmouth-Dennis (13-6-4): 10

Things got out of hand for Chatham in the fourth inning when the Red Sox were able to score nine of their ten runs in the inning. They collected five hits including a base clearing double from Noah Campbell to score the final three runs of the nine. The rally was started by a two-run single from Nick Quintana. They tacked on another run in the fifth inning, and the Y-D staff was able to hold the Anglers to just a run to earn the victory on Sunday evening.

Fast forwarding to the seventh, the Firebirds were down 8-1 going into the bottom half of the inning. They were able to put together a four-run inning to make it 8-5. After quieting Brewster in the top of the eight, the Firebirds were able to make it 8-7 thanks to a clutch two-out, two-run home run from Pat DeMarco. This proved to be the difference in the ball game, as Falmouth scored a run in the bottom of the first inning, and both teams scored a run each in the seventh inning. The Brave’s Anthony Prato was able to single in a run to take a 3-1 lead, but Kyle Stowers hit a solo homer in the bottom half of the inning to cut the deficit to one run. Wareham got that run back in the top of the third, but the Hawks scored another in the third, followed by two in the fourth. The Gatemen were able to score two in the fifth to make it 4-3, but Hyannis negated it with two of their own. The Gatemen then scored two in the sixth to gain ground again, making it 6-5.
