The Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) has officially appointed United Collegiate Umpires (UCU) as the new Coordinator of Baseball Umpires.

“We are excited to add the Cape Cod Baseball League to the list of outstanding summer leagues assigned by United Collegiate Umpires,” stated UCU President, Chris Marshall. “With this addition, umpires are afforded another exceptional stage to display their talents in support of the CCBL student-athletes and coaches. A special thank you to Chuck Sturtevant and Eric Zmuda for entrusting the league’s umpire program to us. We look forward to a successful partnership for years to come.”

As the CCBL begins a new direction for the league’s umpiring group, the partnership has taken effect immediately. UCU will work with the CCBL as the June 10th Opening Day approaches, and throughout the course of the 2023 season.

“The Cape League is excited to be partnering with UCU, and I look forward to working with Chris, Alex, and everyone at United Collegiate Umpires, as we embark on our new agreement with their umpire group.”

United Brand Chief Executive Officer, Alex Skandalis, cites the benefits of this partnership from a developmental perspective: “The new partnership provides additional access to technological resources allowing us to monitor, evaluate, train, and promote umpires with more tangible evidence than ever before.”
