BARNSTABLE, Mass. – The Cape Cod Baseball League celebrates Red Shirt Friday each week with the home teams wearing stunning new red jerseys at each game. This is in support of the national Red Shirt Fridays program created to recognize and support our troops in harm’s way and promote public awareness.
The Cape League applauds and thanks Cape Cod Five Cents Saving Bank – a major sponsor of the league and its 10 teams – for its enormous commitment to this national program. In addition to weekly ads in the Cape Cod Times featuring the staff in red shirts, the bank also sent out a newsletter, part of which we have included below. We at the Cape League appreciate what Cape Cod Five is doing for our community and our military.
CAPE COD FIVE CENTS SAVINGS BANK'S RED SHIRT FRIDAYS
Red Shirt Fridays have been so popular with our employees that we are making red shirts available to our customers. Cape Cod Five customers making a donation to any organization supporting our servicemen and servicewomen and their families can receive a free red polo shirt from the Bank while supplies last. Donations can be in the form of money or goods that are needed by our troops, or one may volunteer time to any organization that benefits our servicemen and servicewomen and their families.
Cape Cod Five and the Cape Cod Five Charitable Foundation Trust are pleased to support these local organizations that provide needed support to our servicemen and servicewomen:
We hope our customers and the community at large will join us in showing support for our troops through their generosity and by wearing a red shirt with pride every Friday.Red shirts are available at all Cape Cod Five branches.
