During the summer of 2010, Marcus Stroman delivered one of the most dominant seasons in Cape League history for the Orleans Firebirds.

Stroman appeared in 15 games, totaling 25 innings without allowing a single run. In fact, Stroman drove in more runs (two) in his limited at-bats than he did on the mound.

He recorded 10 saves and one win on the season, with an impressive 32 strikeouts to just 3 walks.

Stroman was named to both the Eastern Division All-Star team and the CCBL All-League team at the end of the season.

The Firebirds reached the playoffs as the three seed in the East and quickly fell behind 1-0 to the Brewster Whitecaps. In Game 2, Stroman entered with a 4-1 lead and recorded the save. In the deciding Game 3, Stroman entered the ninth inning with the game tied and an inherited runner on first base. He navigated a scoreless ninth, allowing the Firebirds to take the lead in the top half of the tenth. Stroman finished his Cape League season with one more scoreless inning, sending the Firebirds on to the second round.

Stroman would return in 2011 for two appearances, before leaving for Team USA.

Over all his appearances in two years (regular season, All-Star Game, and postseason) Stroman finished with 35 innings and no runs allowed. Opponents hit just .120 with a .312 OPS against him.

Stroman was selected 22nd overall by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2012 MLB Draft.

Stroman was a fan-favorite in Toronto for six seasons, finishing his Blue Jays career with a 3.76 ERA. During his Blue Jays tenure, he wore the #6 as a tribute to Toronto having the nickname “The Six”.

The best season of his career came in 2021, when he started an MLB best 33 games and finished with a 3.02 ERA for the New York Mets.

Last offseason Stroman signed a three-year contract with the Cubs, establishing the next chapter of his career in Chicago.
