As we approach the most thrilling part of the summer, this Friday is when everything is on the lines for these eight teams. For some teams, it may not have been how they started that led them to this spot, but how they’re finishing the season as they all strive for a common end goal, the Arnold Mycock Championship Trophy. 

In the West, the four teams are locked-in, but none of their seedings have officially been finalized.

The Cotuit Kettleers are not only leading the West Division, but also the league with a record of 27-12-1. They’ve been dominant all season, taking the number one spot in the West very early on and holding it throughout the summer. Recently, Hyannis had closed that gap for the top record, before Cotuit pulled off a head-to-head win. Cotuit’s magic number to clinch the first seed in the West is four points, meaning any combination of two Cotuit wins or two Hyannis losses will lock up their seeding.

The Hyannis Harbor Hawks have solidified their spot as the number two team in the West. The Harbor Hawks have an overall record of 24-14-2. Recently, we have seen this team on a roll as they have gone 14-3-1 since July 8th. Their magic number to clinch the second seed in the West is three points.

The Falmouth Commodores are currently sitting in third place with a record of 21-17-2, with the Bourne Braves right behind with an overall record of 20-19-1. Both teams have clinched a playoff berth, but their matchup Sunday night will go a long way to determine the seed.

Currently the Braves sit in fourth place, three points behind the Commodores, with four games to go. If Bourne defeats Falmouth tonight, they’ll be separated by just one point with three games remaining. A Falmouth win however would create a five point lead over Bourne with three games to go.

In the East, the team have been locked-in, but similarly no seedings have been finalized. 

Yarmouth-Dennis currently holds the top spot in the East with a record of 22-17-1. Their magic number to clinch the first seed is six points, with four games remaining. If they can’t lock it up in the next two days, a matchup with the Orleans Firebirds is scheduled for Tuesday and could be the deciding game for seeding.

The Orleans Firebirds currently have a 21-19 record. They are three points behind Y-D and five points ahead of Harwich, with four games remaining. They’ll play Harwich on Monday, before Y-D on Tuesday, which gives them a lot of control of their own fate.

The Harwich Mariners are currently 18-21-2, cemented in the third spot in the East. They trail Orleans by five points, but lead Brewster by five points with four games remaining. They close their season out by traveling to Brewster, which could decide the three seed vs. the four seed if Harwich can’t lock it up earlier in the week.

Rounding out the East are the Brewster Whitecaps, currently at 15-23-2 in the fourth spot. They trail Harwich by five points with four games remaining and will have a difficult path to climb up to the third seed. Their next two games are against the 1 seeds from each division, Y-D and Cotuit.
