Round Two Series Stars

With Round Two of the Cape League Playoffs, presented by Dunkin’, coming to an end, the Championship Series matchup is set. The Orleans Firebirds will be chasing their first title since 2005, while the Bourne Braves will be looking to repeat. As the Arnold Mycock Trophy is set to find its home, let’s take a look at who stood out in Round Two.

Orleans Firebirds (2) def. Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (1): Fenwick Trimble, OF, James Madison

Fenwick Trimble took just one at-bat in Game One of the East Division Finals, but he could not have possibly made it a better one. With the Firebirds trailing 4-3 in the eighth inning, Trimble launched a two-out grand slam to give Orleans a lead that they would not relinquish. Trimble had just two at-bats in the Firebirds’ sweep, but he made the absolute most of one when it mattered the most.

Bourne Braves (4) def. Hyannis Harbor Hawks (2): Josh Kuroda-Grauer, UTL, Rutgers

Josh Kuroda-Grauer returns to Series Stars following Round Two, after another series where he was equally outstanding. JKG went 7-14 in the Division Finals, keeping his batting average for the playoffs at an even .500. The Rutgers utilityman drove in two in each game of the series, adding his second homer of the playoffs and pushing his RBI total to 10. Altogether in the postseason, Kuroda-Grauer is slashing .500/.536/.875, and will look to fuel the Braves in the Championship Series.
